To Mr. Peter Gelb and to the Highest Decision-Makers in THE METROPOLITAN OPERA As an opera singer with "Reife Prüfung" from Vienna and decades of concerts, I urge you to cancel that anti-Semitic opera that you have planned; I urge you to perform and air an opera that is NOT anti-Semitic. How can you perform an anti-Semitic opera when you have Jewish musicians in your orchestra? Appalling. Do look up the YouTube video of a concert in Holland in which a Muslim conductor begins to prosylatize the audience before the concert. Holland's Queen is present. The members of the orchestra silently take their instruments and walk off stage, in solidarity with and for their Jewish colleagues. There is no concert. Who has ordered the anti-Semitic opera? Under what kind of tyranny and dictatorship has the Met placed itself? How many of your Met Oper supporters will discontinue donating and subscribing and will stop giving generously? I repeat: I am appalled. I would hope that every orchestra member and every singer and extra would sew a yellow star on his or her sleeve, in solidarity and not perform, but just stand on the stage and in the orchestra pit in silence. Please send this to the composer, with blessings for the composers discovering that loving ones fellow human being is far greater than spreading venomous evil. With deep disappointment for the planned misuse of some of the most beautiful voices in the world in a production that a genuine Christian, Jew or human being can scarcely condone.
