Preserve Private College Education!
Preserve Private College Education!
Dear Friend,
President Obama is waging war on private colleges in the United States. We have to stop him! Otherwise, all colleges except for a handful of elite nonprofits (Harvard, Yale, etc.) will be in government control.
These private, for-profit colleges provide millions of students with training aiming at specific, available jobs in nursing, IT, mechanical repair and all sorts of good paying occupations. They may not teach Shakespeare, but they do prepare kids for jobs.
He has issued regulations requiring all colleges to collect data on the student loan default rates of their students and their after-graduation earnings relative to their outstanding student loan debt.
For state universities, the data will help people choose where to attend. But for private for-profit schools, where 13% of students go, it will be used to close down schools with even modest default rates. Were the same standards to apply equally to all colleges, about a third would have to close. (Washington can't make the college close, but it can ban student loans to its students, accomplishing the same thing).
And he is doing this by regulation, not Congressional action.
Please sign this petition to ask Congress to override these regulations and preserve private college education in the U.S.
Your signature will count! We will send an email in your name to your Senators and Congressman telling him or her of your position!
Please get your friends and family to sign this petition too.
We'll add your email address to our Alerts list to keep you posted on progress and let you know if we need to take further action.
Thanks,
Dick Morris
