DEMAND CONGRESS STOP LETTING DANGEROUS FELONS OUT OF PRISON!
Messages Sent So Far
Dear Friend,
The Senate is about to vote on "sentencing reform" legislation that Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark) calls a "legal jailbreak." Under the guise of decriminalizing "non-violent" drug offenses, it would let tens of thousands of dangerous felons back out on the street.
A great many dangerous drug dealers plea bargain down to simple possession and are classified as "nonviolent" as a result. But this bill lets them out of prison nonetheless. It would also restore judicial discretion in meting out light sentences to felons. Our serious crime rate is now half of what it was in the 70s because our prison population has doubled. Let's not undo this progress,
President Trump is, misguidedly, backing the program because -- reportedly -- of lobbying from his family. But it is a bad bill and needs to get defeated.
WE, the Undersigned, demand Congress vote NO on the "reform" criminal justice bill -- called the First Step Act -- coming before the Senate.
Please sign this petition demanding Congress vote NO on the First Step Act. The key question is how many Republicans will back the bill and I hope you join me in opposing it.
Your signature will count! We will send an email in your name to Congress and President Trump telling him of your position!
We'll add your email address to our Alerts list to keep you posted on progress and let you know if we need to take further action.
Thank you,
Dick Morris
