Why should my individual policy be cancelled? I signed up for it back in June of this year, and last month I received the cancellation notice from BCBS of Michigan stating that my policy is sub-standard per the ACA because my plan does not have maternity care coverage or pediatric optical and dental coverage. There is a big problem here - Why? Well I am a single 30 year old male, therefore it is biologically impossible for me to need maternity care coverage. Also, since I am not married, why do I have to have The White House and HHS telling me that my policy must have pediatric coverage as well? The plan that I currently have cannot be matched by the Feds; my monthly premium is very affordable, I can continue seeing my doctor, I have prescription drug coverage, optical coverage, and dental coverage. By the way, when I purchased my current plan, pre-existing condition did not matter because BCBS of Michigan does NOT say, No, to anyone that has a pre-existing condition.
