Senator Feinstein, Thank you for referring me to the actual wording of the UN Arms Trade Treaty. I read it (and copied some relevant sections below) and I found that the statements you made are misleading and untrue! First, this Treaty will become enforceable after it is signed only by the executive branch even if it never is ratified by the Senate, which can and will delay a vote for ratification until it has enough votes for passage, or it may never bring it to a vote. Second, under the Supremacy Clause of the US Constitution, this Treaty will have the full affect of a Constitutional Amendment on all US States, even if it has overwhelming public opposition. Third, the right of any States (country) to regulate and control does not mean that the treaty will not apply within the US, only that the US government will regulate its enforcement within its own boundaries. We cannot trust you to do that. Fourth, the Treaty requires a National control list of gun owners and transfers, restrictions on transfers, records of brokers, and a database of end users that is reported to the UN Secretary. Fifth, the Treaty refers to stockpiling and disarmament. Sixth, it allows adoption of rules by consensus and any nation to propose amendments which are adopted by ¾ majority vote. Consequently the US will now infringe on the rights of its people to bear arms, restrict gun ownership and transfers, compile a national database of gun owners, share that list with our enemies and commit itself to measures up to and including stockpiling and disarmament! You are not foolish enough not to see this, rather, this is what you want to accomplish and preside over. This is an extremely risky proposition to every American, not only for our individual rights, but to our safety in the entire world. Civilian ownership of arms is its only defense against tyranny by governments both foreign and domestic. In every instance where arms were tracked by governments, their ultimate goal was disarmament and subjugation of the people. Do you not see this? Read a few history books. So, I repeat the plea I made to you in my letter: If you want to implement any gun control measure, do it honestly and out in the open with a Constitutional Amendment. Otherwise you and the President are betraying your oath of office to preserve protect and defend the US Constitution. Plus, you are being dishonest with your constituents. WITHDRAW FROM THE TREATY Sincerely and with Extreme Concern Roy RobersonREPORT COMMENTS
