Republicans and Democrats are making me sick with the lack of movement in congress. Republicans are losing my vote in 2014 at this rate. It's dispicable that they are "throwing the baby out with the bathwater". Check the opinions at the door and do your job and compromise. ITs sickening that all those congressmen are collecting a check for failing to do their job. they should take an immediate paycut until they can stop this madness. The country should come first, their campaigning for 2014 should come after.REPORT COMMENTS

If the Government continues to be shutdown, the consequences will be apocalyptic. We have children to feed in our schools; veterans who will starve or be homeless; forest rangers to prevent wildfires; food to be inspected; borders to patrol; the list is endless. Let's end this ridiculous predicament we are in and reach a compromise! That is why we voted for you! The ability to compromise for the improvement of this beautiful and free country!REPORT COMMENTS

This method of trying to make policy is very dangerous and damaging to our country. Our debts are our obligations and it should never be a question of whether we will continue to pay on them or not. I'm a registered Republican and voted against Obama. However, this activity forces me to not support the Republican party.REPORT COMMENTS

Stop the madness Republicans. We have more pressing issues than funding the Panda Cam in D.C. and some other ridiculous items that have now been funded. We have people without jobs, families without food - and soon to have their food supplements decreased, and millions of Americans who will need their benefits. Do the right thing: open the government, raise the debt ceiling and get busy on governing.REPORT COMMENTS

To the GOP: Americans deserve better! Americans are smarter than the GOP perceives them to be and are very aware of GOP self-preservation! Stop the hypocrisy! Stop the lies! Stop the talking points! Stop the farce of pretending to care about all Americans! Stop this dangerous and harmful brinkmanship! The GOP continues to play a reckless, dangerous game with our American economy. Multiple times the GOP refused to act on measures to pursue a responsible, bipartisan course that would protect Veterans Benefits and American jobs. A total of 375 bills that passed the Democratic majority House have been blocked by Republicans in the Senate. Thats THREE HUNDRED, SEVENTY-FIVE BILLS! GOP voted numerous times to shut down the government! Yes Americans are keeping track! Economists estimate that the GOP government shutdown could cost our economy $300 million every single day. Some say it could even tip our economy back into recession! Every American should sign the Congressional Reform Act of 2013 Petition demanding the following action: 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term's), then go home and back to work. Americans demand responsible action not GOP self-preservation!REPORT COMMENTS

Republicans are holding this nation hostage over a bill that has been passed into law; completely ridiculous. It is a disgrace that Republicans are jeopardizing the good of this country and its global standing to prove a point that no one but they support. Not to mention that Congress is being paid while withholding the pay of others. What a truly shameful moment for our country. We elected you as a representative of the American People. Do your job. The purpose of Congress is not to stop the government, but to make it work better. Stop acting like egotistical, selfish children . . .REPORT COMMENTS

The tea party caused this and they should pay by not getting paid and they should all be impeached for causing this and not care about the American people but worry about their own political interests and what is best for them. The tea party is NOT american, it's main goal is to cause confusion, and to bring down the american dream. The election year of 2014 not one republican should be voted back into Congress for any reason. All Republicans should not get paid or have health benefits.REPORT COMMENTS
