Unfettered access to schools should be replaced by a police officer with a metal detector at the start of school. At the end of school an officer should control access to the school by only permitting egress by the students and staff. Further access to the school should be monitored with video and possibly other means to know who is entering.Apr 13th, 2014Stephanie M. from Santa Fe, TX signed.

This is not only cost effective, but puts a qualified person or persons behind the detectors which are the first line of prevention of problems. Use the resources we have and that are trained and willing to protect.REPORT COMMENTS

As a retired high school principal, the safety of students and staff is paramount. Retired armed police are effective but metal detectors are limited in their effectiveness on California school campuses because of the numerous buildings and entrances. Most campuses are fenced but fences do not keep intruders out, it just makes it more difficult.REPORT COMMENTS

why not use metal detectors and arm and train school employees rather than spending more taxpayer money. The results would be the sameREPORT COMMENTS

We need to demand that schools put in metal detectors and armed guards placed in them to stop the violence as seen in the Pennsylvania school. The liberal left (24%) need to be silenced on gun control and other issues. Criminals will always find a way to kill and demanding gun control is absurd. I find it interesting that we have seen so much more violence during Barack Obamas' administration than any republican administration. We need to stand up to this minority and beat them back.REPORT COMMENTS
